Trademark law

We provide advice on the choice of signs which can be protected and prepare the most efficient strategy for applicants.
Trademark availability searches
We cooperate with professional search agencies and a global network of other law firms to check the availability of signs with respect to collisions with older marks.
Trademark registrations
We take over all application, opposition or cancellation proceedings before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (EUIPO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva. Our attorneys are admitted to the Federal Patent Court, the Court of First Instance and the European Court of Justice. We coordinate global applications through our partner firms abroad.
Trademark monitoring
Following the acquisition of protection, we monitor the marks upon request continuously and check whether the application of more later marks, corporate signs or domain names collides with the rights of our clients.
Trademark portfolio management
We manage trademarks in all economically relevant countries for our national and international clients. We use powerful software which provides clear evaluations of the trademark portfolio within a very short time. On request, we can allow our clients to consult and evaluate their trademark portfolios themselves via protected online access for an up-to-date review.
Product piracy and parallel imports
We will support you in uncovering and prosecuting trademark infringements. In cases of product piracy we work closely with the customs authorities and specialized detective agencies to enforce border confiscation procedures.
Trademark infringement proceedings
Our attorneys appear regularly before all the specialized boards of the district courts and courts of appeal in the area of industrial property. In proceedings before the Federal Court of Justice, we accompany our clients in cooperation with our colleagues licensed to practice there. In the field of international trademark infringement proceedings, our office coordinates the strategy for the enforcement of trademark rights and the cooperation with partner firms.
